Panamax class vessel, ‘OOCL Nagoya’ christened at Geoje Shipyard

Samsung Heavy Industries’, eleventh Panamax class vessel among sixteen 4,500TEU vessels was named ‘OOCL Nagoya’ at Geoje Shipyard

The ceremony was held in the presence of Robin Das, Deputy Global Head of Shipping, HSH-Nordbank; Gillian Wheeler, honourable sponsor of the ‘OOCL Nagoya’; Ken Cambie, Chief Financial Officer of OOIL and SY Bae, President and Shipyard General Manager, Samsung Heavy Industries

The new vessel was christened the ‘OOCL Nagoya’ by Gillian Wheeler, accompanied by her husband, Robin Das, Deputy Global Head of Shipping, HSH-Nordbank.

“‘OOCL Nagoya’ is named after the vibrant Port of Nagoya, in Japan,” Ken Cambie, Chief Financial Officer of OOCL. “The Port of Nagoya is one of Japan’s busiest and most important ports, handling more than ten percent of Japan’s total trade. The region surrounding Nagoya is home to Japan’s auto manufacturing industry, and the port serves as a major gateway to the rest of Japan.”
